Posted by: STONERS 1 month, 1 week agoWith the summer half over, it was probably too late anyway, but it looks pretty clear now that whatever slim hope American drivers had for a summer gas tax holiday has vanished like an ice cube in a heat wave.

"It looks like there is no easy answer to this dilemma, except to say that it's going to be a freezing cold day in a normally very hot place before drivers find relief from the complex forces stoking ever-higher fuel prices. We fear that it won't be too long before we look back on 2008 and remember fondly the days of "affordable" gas."

gas prices are falling now, at rates higher than whatever the gas tax holliday may have offset.
