  Think how many job providers might be in the U.S. still if not for unions artificially inflating wages and the cost of doing business. A company not even in the U.S. used to build one of my favorite motorcycles -- Ossa, a Spanish company.
  IN the early '80s, the union went on strike. The company closed, never to open again. The union cut its own throat and put many people out of work.
  I also was a union steward for three years in one of the largest locals in America, UFCW Local 951. I saw first hand how a fat union lives to perpetuate itself and the salaries of those leading it at the expense of those providing their money -- the workers.

    I worked for a Fortune 2 company that had a large factory in Georgia. The union decided that they were going to tell the CEO how the cows ate the cabbage. Strikes, work slow downs, whacked out pay, etc. Management tried to negotiate for years with the union to come to a reasonable compromise. Nope. The union dug in its heels.
    The company closed the factory and rebuilt it in China.
    Way to go Union.

Unions a one time necessary are now too powerful. The teachers unions are one of the worst. Hopefully they will return to their rightful place in working with employers to provide safety for their members.
