"Light, sweet crude for July delivery rose as high as $135.09 before falling back. By the afternoon in Europe, the contract stood at $133.35 a barrel in electronic trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange, up 18 cents on Wednesday's close of $133.17."

"That settlement price, up $4.19 on Tuesday's close, marked NYMEX crude's largest one-day price advance since March 26."

I am checking on Amtrk to go visit my kids and grandkids! This is really bad for people who have to drive to work and are unable to afford to buy a hybrid vehicle!

I remember when gasoline was 19 cents a gallon and then in the 1970's when gasoline went to 79 cents a gallon and people where standing in long lines, waiting to get gasoline.

      Thanks STONERS!

It isn't $4 here yet (Memphis) but I expect it to get there at any time.

I know a lot of people that this is really hurting - they can't afford to pay that much for gasoline, but they can't afford to not get to their jobs.

Note: Mass-transit in the Memphis area stinks. The buses cover VERY limited areas and they are NEVER on time and sometimes NEVER SHOW UP. A person cannot put their job on the line for a transportation system which is THAT undependable.

Did anyone watch the House hearing with the oil executives yesterday?

There was a very heated exchange between Maxine Waters and one executive

Waters threatened to "sociali" then stopped when she realized "socialize" was not the word she wanted. She threatened to nationalize the oil industry

Here is a clip of some of the exchange with the executive guaranteeing higher prices if Congress continued to block drilling:

What you don't hear is the response to the threat from the oil executive " We've heard this before, its called Hugo Chavez."

          That left Waters speechless

Cavuto had an interesting take on the Congressional hearings

I'd Love to See a Congressional Hearing Where Congressmen do the Hearing:

And for once, just once, I'd like to see the tables turned.

Let the witnesses question the questioners.

            The piñatas, the politicians.

            Let them demand of Congress:

You think we're making too much money? What are you doing with all our money?

You won't let us explore for more oil here, but you're ripping OPEC for not producing more oil over there? Who's the bigger hypocrite? Or the more sanctimonious ass?

And year after year, you repeatedly reject the president's energy plan, then have the temerity to complain he has no plan?

Just like you'd sooner rip successful American companies who refine that pricey oil than the slippery folks at OPEC who provide it.

Just whose side are you on...the folks who want to get that oil here...or the thieving bastards you kowtow to over there?

The laws of supply and demand hold true. When did we build a new oil refinery? Why do we have so many oil fields that we are blocked from drilling/pumping? Are they all blocked by the same people that do not want windmills or drilling because it would block their ocean view?
