Obama will be the first elected President in 8 years. The current one was appointed in 2000 and was rigged in to office in 2004.

You know, it hadn't really occurred to me before reading this piece that all you have to do if you want to achieve record oil prices, and subsequently record profits for big oil, is to stir up sh*t with oil producing nations. Huh.

"He voted against using the Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) to pay down the Federal deficit by automatically reducing spending on programs deemed ineffective"

Anyone heard of this rating tool before?

I'll have to do more reading but it seems to defy common sense to continue spending on programs that have been deemed ineffective

Wouldn't we be better off if every Federal program had a sunset provision - 5 or even 10 years? It would force Congress to go back and re-evaluate the program instead of the program being on autopilot for funding and increases in funding every year
