"Stocks tanked Friday, falling to the worst levels in nearly 18 months after a weak February employment report and more financial sector woes exacerbated recession fears. Oil spiked to a record $106 a barrel before retreating a bit. Job losses are the worst in five years. Employers cut 63,000 jobs in February, the biggest monthly cut in five years. Yeah, while that may be true, Bush and his cabal made out like bandits, didn't they! I'm still trying to get AlphaGnosis (luv to many) to admit that W was a disaster, but she blithely and obliviously forges ahead. Our country has been raped.

What is sad is people don't see the effects of this.

Here in CA the city on Ontario set aapart a little piece of ground for the homeless.

Now the police and others are going in and towing cars and such from these people.

Not only are these people now homeless they have no way to get around.

Here in CA it's almost impossible to get work without transportation.

Our Rapid transit system sucks.

If you are homeless, good luck they don't want see you let alone hire you.

This continues thru out the country I know, at least in Southern Ca there is no snow.

My God what kind of nation have we become, when the least fortunate become victims over and over again.

I'm not saying we should give these people everything, but we need to get them working again.

Not give the work to other nations for the benefits of the wealthy.

cowboygrandpa---I don't think that any of us want to see the welfare system abused, but, you're right, we don't even take care of those who legitimately need a boost. We can spend all of the billions upon billions in Iraq, but we can't take care of our less fortunate here. And, to top it off, those in power smirk.

Please do not say "we" when you say we don't take care of the less fortunate. If you do not personally do anything for the less fortunate, please say "I" don't do anything for others.

Anyone who is waiting for the gubmint to do anything right has conveniently run off to a safe corner of their mind to justify why they do not personally get involved or contribute to causes that help others.

For anyone who is waiting for the government to do something, you are really waiting for someone other than yourself to do something. And please clarify your statements by saying "I" don't care about others and "I" am not going to lift a finger to help others.

I volunteer at a hospital, chief. My point stands that Bush and his cronies have been a pox on this country and have been a major disaster. Now, go back to your wondrous deeds, you pompous ass.

mcg,

Don't be such a di**head. You knew exactly what my point was. There are millions of people who are waiting for SOMEONE ELSE to do something about something. It doesn't matter who is in office. The government is and always will be a voracious waster of taxpayer money and anyone who is waiting for the government to solve their problems is a retarded, government teat sucking, idiot.

So Bush is an idiot. Yeah, so what, big deal. Do you stop volunteering at the hospital because Bush is an a-hole? No, I did not think so. The right thing is the right thing no matter who is in office. But a lot of people have no intention of doing anything at all like hospital volunteer work, supporting a homeless shelter or whatever. They are spectators in the game of life and love to call the score after the game is over. You know the equation. 10% of the people achieve 90% of the results.

My original post was that there are deserving people who need a boost from time to time. Bush has created many more of these unfortunates. I blame him directly for many of the downtrodden in our country today. I'm looking for some of his "compassionate Christian" supporters to finally admit that they were duped into supporting him. That's my intent.

avatar

Fair enough. But what happens if Bush doesn't do anything? Do we stand by and watch people suffer or do we chip in and help them ourselves? That is my point.

jumpmaster---We'll continue to do what we do. My point has been that if I can't expect to government to do FOR people, at least I don't want to see government (read Bush here) to do TO people. He has brutalized a ton of good people. And, I'm still trying to get some of his adamant acolytes here at Propeller to stop defending him and to admit that they were wrong. Otherwise, those people have lost their credibility.

Do you think that will ever happen?

You accomplish much more at the hospital than you will ever accomplish here. Closed minded people of any persuasion (liberal or conservative) will be closed minded no matter what you do. Keep up the good work at the hospital. It is much more important than any internet blog.

cowboy,

I know about the homeless camp near the Ontario airport that is encroaching upon people's homes. Just out of curiosity, would you like this camp and all the stuff that goes with the camp, near your home?

You talk about "what kind of nation have we become". Well, you and I are the nation. If you would like to be a part of the solution and not just talk about the problem I have something for you.

There is a shelter for homeless women with children at March AFB, called Kings Hall. It is a converted barracks. The shelter is for abused women with kids and it gives them a safe place to stay while they earn enough money to get their own places. They have meals, family activities, etc.

There is plenty to do. You can help to refurbish the building. Cleaning, painting, etc. You can also contribute linens, room furnishings, money, etc. If you don't have those things, you can contribute your time.

I know the director of the operation and she is a great person. She can take whatever resources that you can offer. The shelter has a great success record of helping the less fortunate recover from bad situations. They help people to regain positive momentum, get out of dangerous situations, build their self-esteem, and launch them back into society as productive and independent members of society.

It has been a great success and they have done it alll WITHOUT government interference, I mean help.

If you want to chip in and help, send me a private message and I will give you the director's contact information.

Those people are no longer part of the statistics.

Yeah, because remember he is going to retire and give speeches for $75,000.00 a pop.

What kind of idiots would pay this man that kind of money to smirk his way thru a speech?

I'm hoping he goes to prison for all the financial malfeasance, acts of treason, felonies and high misdemeanors he has committed while in office.

So he can stimulate himself all he wants. He and shotgun Dick can trade off being the bitch. Just like they have thru out the administration of this presidency.

But Bush said we weren't heading into a recession, so I'm not worried.

By the way, where did we put all those WMDs he told us about? I can't seem to locate them.

Not to fear my Prop friends, the economic stimulus check is on it's way and will solve all the woes of our budgets as well as the whole countries!

George Bush's "stewardship" of the economy is finally coming home to roost. He was playing every card left in his deck to postpone it till he left office, so he could blame it all on his ill-fated successor. Fortunately, like everything else he has done, that's not going to work. He doesn't have that many cards in his deck.

Are you suggesting he isn't playing with a full deck?

Ever heard of FDR's New Deal? The 1935 Social Security Act? Sometime the government CAN and should help people's lives and protect them from greedy capitalism gone unchecked. If it is left to corporate America to have its way, we get the Great Depression, Soup lines, WorldCOM and Enron!

BTW, are you retired military? (the name "jumpmaster" and the Special forces patch)

If so, pity yourself since you're relying (or will rely) on that Government retirement paycheck!

Thanks to good ol' Uncle Sam! LOL!
