The key to prosperity and harmony among the people of the world lies in the freedom of people to do whatever they want with their own money, including buying and selling goods and services with anyone they want anywhere in the world. That's what freedom, free enterprise, and economic prosperity are all about.

The immigrant, both legal and illegal, have become such an integral part of the american fabric, that eliminating them would be like taking color out of color television.

Our food has been affected, breakfast burrito anyone, manual labor, office cleaner, home builders, medical, Dr Gupta, to pop stars.

Chasing the illegals out would cripple america, as we know it today. Can it be done? If we were all serious about it, yes, but is it in our best interest? I think not, but that is each individuals decision.

Sure they send a lot of money to familly at their country of origin, but its a drop in the bucket compared to what we are borrowing from the world to finance the current economy.

Its a drop in the bucket compared to all the wages we have allowed to be exported.

Its a drop in the bucket compared to everything we import, that we used to make ourselves.

We do need to impartially asses the true cost of imigration, and not view it through the colored glasses we are now using.

Ridiculous. The arguement doesn't follow and I disagree with Gransater.

Which of the statements do you disagree with?

I would hope that I'm right in at least one of them. Just looking at the headlines, and the state of the economy as a whole, one can deduct that something is gravely amiss. You aren't going to pin all our troubles on imigrants now are you?

So what if immigrants send money back to their home countries. How is that any worse than thousands of U.S. companies outsourcing their labor? We pay workers who are willing to work harder than any U.S. worker less than our workers get, yet we claim they're taking advantage of us. How strange that the conservatives who are most in favor of a free market are the ones most opposed to an instance of it actually working.

Good point if you are willing to take it to its logical conclusion which is no immigration policy at all at which point why don't we just merge with Mexico and Canada (or even more). Also the problem is not that they are sending the money home. The danger is killing the goose which laid the golden egg, for those of you who know the story.

I'm not advocating no immigration policy at all, but we have blown this issue way out of proportion.

The root of the whole problem is the differential in wages between the US and Mexico. That differential works to the advantage of both the illegals and the companies who hire them. Thus no solution such as a wall, that doesn't address the wage differential will be effective.

The solution is to eliminate the wage differential. Offer work visas that give the holder the right to earn at least minimum wage. Why come illegally if you can earn more coming in legally? Why would employers hire foreign labor when they can get US labor at the same price? The prospect of being able to legally earn a higher wage may even drive some illegals back home to get a work visa.

The real labor problem facing this country is employers moving their operations overseas not only for lower wages but also lower benefits and fewer safety and anti-discrimination and laws.

The God Father arrived in NY with a visa? His passport was stamped and within 1 month he got his green card.
