  In loan sharking business they call it 6 to five. That means for every 5 dollar borrowed you need to pay back 6 dollars by the end of the week. Majority of these payday loans will lend you 100 dollar for the interest of 30 dollar in two weeks. So loan sharks charge 40 % for two weeks and payday loans charge 30%. Some payday loans will charge 20% interest for two weeks but then again there are some who will charge 40% for the first time lending. The other difference between these two is that if you default loan sharks, first comes a message and then comes a goon with payday loans if you don't care for your credit ratings only comes message after message after message and letters and what have you. In their application they will ask you to sign that you are not planning to apply for bankruptcy but you can still apply for bankruptcy and erase it all.

  These payday loans , are VERY easy to get and they get screwed a lot but their profit margin is so huge that they can take lot of loss and still make profit. If a payday loan company lends you 300 dollar they will not deduct 390 in two weeks from your checking account they will only debit 90 dollar and the principal loan will stay there so they can charge another 90 dollars in two weeks and it can go on and on. If you want them to debit the whole loan in two weeks you have to send it some forms that has to be received by a certain date other wise they will only debit the interest. They will come up with lot of excuses that they did not receive your notice by the deadline and bla bla just to keep milking your bank account. It is one of the worst legal business you will encounter. STAY AWAY FROM IT.

  Payday loans are a tremendous scam. They are trying to pass laws in Virginia that will effectively force these criminal organizations out of business. I hope they do.
