Well, someone had to be made an example off. The punishment doesn't fit the crime.

The problem with this, is it open up lawsuits against ppl exactly like the one stated in the case. The RIAA (record labels) don't want to die, and they are grasping at straws, they just caught a big one. They could now potentially sue (successfully) people who burn a disc of their own music for copy, or even transfer it to an ipod.

It scares me to think that rather than reform their business practices due to change in technology and demand, they would rather sue and strong-arm people into paying for their awful music.

Support real artists, underground hip-hop, independent label artists, and people who have real talent. Show them that this is a sign of us just not needing them anymore if they are going to treat us like this.

I'm surprised anyone is still downloading from unauthorized sites these days. Especially when it comes to the volume she is accused of. I have purchased a two year unlimited download service for a mere 24 dollars. This comes out to pennies per song. For this price it's worth it to be legal.

My question is this how can this single mother afford a $200,000 fine , there is no way in this world she could ever pay that one , sad really , when you think 90% of the people on the internet are all guilty at some point for illegal downloads in one shape or another .
