"If this guy was just doing it as a prank or to ruin someone else's chances, he deserves to be hit in the pocketbook,"

The winning bidder - identified on his eBay home page as William Fisher, or "fishbashr1" - did not return e-mails and did not answer the phone listed for his house in Laguna Hills.

Schneider's plight is the most recent fraudulent bidding episode at eBay.

I won a bid on an item and the seller decided to re-sell the item I had won in pieces to get more money. I filed several complaints with Ebay and Paypal... nothing came of it.

I knew no one was going to pay 10 million bucks for the General Lee

I know!!! I thought that was just rediculious..

Good point, considering that there were 70 General Lees!!!

Yea, not surprised in the least. This tends to happen with a lot of the high profile items.

There's little to no enforcement, and there really is not a lot punative that EBay can do - ban the account? Unless you had to put something in escrow prior to bidding then they can't hit you in the wallet.

I heard from the guy, victem of being hacked... I have had it done to my company... and Ebay does have it's security problems

avatar

Damn! That's something that Ebay can't be counted on as a reliable source of obtaining decent goods or anything at all! Except the possibility of being hacked!! Thanx Stoners, and Mark Stevens!

"eBay does have it's security problems"

That's an understatement! The recent changes have only made it worse - more difficult for users to determine if they are being scammed

CompUsa screw me over on Ebay, I filed a report and nothing happened, why? because CompUsa is a power seller and ebay is not going to shut down a power seller against me a normal user, is frustrating.

Ebay jist ain't on yer side. They be a greedy bunch.

Ebaay and PayPal should be investigated. Both are doing some weird stuff that follows absolutely no form of business plan at all. To both of them, whoever has the most money wins the dispute, period. And that is wrong.

" said Stockman, who gave the winning bidder a negative rating in eBay's feedback forum."

And just who is this going to impress?

Yea, that's a black mark that goes on your permanent record. It shows up on background and credit checks.
