The percentage of poor Americans who are living in severe poverty has reached a 32-year high, millions of working Americans are falling closer to the poverty line and the gulf between the nation's "haves" and "have-nots" continues to widen.

    26% increase since 2000-2005,so probably more now. Now,what in the world happened in 2000? Hmmmmm... Good find.

      I'm sure this is nothing but the liberal media trying to blow this out of porportion. After all, they could all get jobs as executives if they wanted! Anyway thats what the Bush supporters will tell you!

          the article states that 33% of the severely poor are under 17??what does that mean--is someone in high school working at mcd's on the weekend considered severely poor--how about if that severely poor youth has parents with six figure income--is he still severly poor--this article tortures the facts unbearably--26% increase since 2000--sounds unrealistic at best--completely fabricated is more like it--and money doesnt really tell the tale--20,000 in nyc is pocket change--20k in central pa or the midwest gets you a nice home and life--just more bush bashing so youll feel guilty enough to let hillary "take those profits" and grow her big govt--but we've thrown hundreds of billions at this since the great society was supposed to fix it--guess it didnt work
