Nov. 30, 2006, 12:50 p.m.I remember Christmas's past when I made things in my wood shop for others in my family. It meant more to my sisters and brothers to have something made especially for them.
You can't put dollar figures on gifts like these. It is so mindless to just go to the store and buy mindless gifts that will be in a garage sell next spring or just be put up in a storeroom for garage sales in the future.

Nov. 30, 2006, 1:08 p.m.Mr. B and Uncle T-
I agree with you both.
How bad is it getting when people can't afford to shop at the cheapest store around?
Too bad many people are so busy just trying to scratch out a living that they have little time to make personalized gifts.

Nov. 30, 2006, 4:51 p.m.I would suggest everyone check out the web site www.wakeupwalmart.com. That will explain alot as to why Wal-Mart's sales are down for the first time EVER! I have no sympathy for a company like Wal-Mart. It's the associates who are getting the raw end of things.

Nov. 30, 2006, 6:24 p.m.or Mr Breaker, maybe the economy is so good people have more money and are shopping for more pricey items, the numbers don't lie, the market is at record highs, have you looked at your 401K lately, the real estate market is still at the highest rate of growth in years, unemployment is the lowest in 15 years, get a grip.

Nov. 30, 2006, 10:05 p.m.What planet do you live on? Unless you are in a fog you would realize why the unemployement figures are down, is because many have run out of benefits! Perhaps you don't realize that many of the young in this country (except ones who have well to do parents) most likely will never acheive the great American dream of home ownership on the wages that companies like Walmart pay to their associates! Where are the high paying manufacturing jobs at now? We have become a service nation, and unfortunatly that translates into servents to the rich and well off for most Americans! I'm happy that you have seen such good times and hope that they continue, and your bubble does not burst, but if it does perhaps you can go to work for Walmart and earn the big bucks that their associates do!!

Dec. 1, 2006, 2:26 a.m.WELL,
they can't say Christmas sales anymore,
since they denounced Christmas since last year.

Dec. 1, 2006, 2:31 a.m.I walked into a Wal-mart last week,
and I observed the employees at the door are not really comfortable in giving the face to customers walking in,
may be because they can't say Merry Christmas to people like they used to.

Dec. 1, 2006, 6:30 a.m.Oh Boo Hoo for Wal-Mart.
Maybe they should start paying their sweat-shop laborers even less money and take away their right to go home after the work-day ends. LOL
